decorating your blend

This tutorial is just a nice idea of how to use a blend, and gives a short crash course on many of the different things taught in Daydreamed's tutorial section. Don't understand parts of this tutorial? There's probably a longer version of colorizing, making brushes, blurring tutorials elsewhere in the section. Don't know how to blend? See my tutorial on Blending - The Basics in the Tutorials section.

I will be using this blend:[Screenshot]

Choose your gradient tool and make the colors #7EA2FC and #FE99B8. Make a new layer in your document. Drag the gradient tool diagonally on the new layer you just made. Now, for the Blend Mode of that layer, select 'Color.' [Screenshot]

Go to Layer >> Merge Visible. This will make the two layers into one. Go to Filter >> Sharpen >> Sharpen Edges. Now go to Layer >> Duplicate Layer, and set that layer's blend mode to Soft Light. Go to Filter >> Blur >> Gaussian Blur and set the radius to 4.0. [Screenshot]

Use this texture and drag it onto the blend you're decorating. For the Blend Mode, choose Soft Light and set the opacity to 55. [Texture][Screenshot]

Create a new layer and use these splatter brushes in the color of white. (Brushes courtesy of Bruised Heart). To add these splatter brushes, save the following image to your computer. Using your marquee tool, make a square around the splatter you want to use. Now go to Edit >> Define Brush Preset.

Set the layer's blending mode to Soft Light. [Screenshot]

I will use some brushes from my Icon Words brushset (available in the Downloads section) to softly decorate the rest of my blend.[Screenshot]
